We’re pleased to announce that, beginning in February 2026, Brussels Accountants will transition to a new accounting platform i.e. Horus Software. This upgrade will enable us to keep pace with a rapidly evolving digital landscape and further streamline our processes, allowing us to serve our clients with even greater efficiency and quality.
To continue delivering high-quality, efficient service, it’s essential that we stay aligned with the latest technological developments. In particular, the increasing automation of accounting input through the structured and digitized e-invoicing format required by the Peppol system, which came into effect on 1 January 2026, makes this transition both timely and necessary. For this reason, and several others, adopting a new accounting solution is an important and forward-looking step for our firm.
Peppol is the protocol via which all B2B invoices must now be sent in Belgium. This has been mandatory since 1 January 2026. Belgian VAT registered entities must send their sales invoices to other Belgian VAT registered entities via Peppol and of course, must have the capacity to receive incoming invoices via Peppol as well.
Every VAT registered entity, whether a company or freelancer, needs to have an access point to Peppol. Some of our clients are not yet compliant. As we are now past the legal deadline, we urge them to get in touch with our colleague Peter as a matter of priority if they are still not sure on the steps to take to become compliant. This can be done via the email address: Peter@brussels-accountants.be
Peppol is mandatory, it’s the law, but the choice of the agency that will function as your access point to Peppol is yours to make. Access points operate within a competitive market, so the more important topic to make your decision is of course “Will my choice of invoicing software reduce, or increase, the amount of work required for my accounting?”
We highly recommend our clients choose Falco as their access point to Peppol. Falco is an independent, fully legitimate access point. The reason we propose our clients choose Falco is because Falco is highly efficient when combined with the accounting system Brussels Accountants will be using as from February 2026, i.e. Horus Software. In fact, both applications are entirely integrated, as Falco was created by the Horus group, they were in fact part of the same package at their inception.
Moreover, via Falco, clients can easily attach comments or specify preferred (analytical) accounts to their documents. This information is securely retained and automatically applied during the automated accounting process, ensuring consistency and accuracy throughout.
However, there are of course many access points and invoicing software available, some of our clients are using Billit as their access point to Peppol. We’ll make sure that these Billit accounts, or indeed, where possible, any other invoicing software that some of our clients are using are linked to our new accounting system Horus Software. We’re not asking these clients to change from Billit, or any other invoicing software, to Falco. At least not at this point in time.
An important note to all clients still using Winbooks connect to upload their documents:
If you are still uploading your accounting documents to us via Winbooks Connect. At this stage, ONLY documents relating to Q4 2025 (04Q 2025) should be uploaded via Winbooks Connect. All accounting documents for this period that are submitted no later than 25 January 2026 will be processed and booked in our current accounting system Winbooks.
As we have previously mentioned, from February 2026, we will begin the transition to our new accounting system. During this transition period, Winbooks Connect will be deactivated, and any documents that have been uploaded but not yet processed will not be transferred to the new system. This is why it is vitally important for us to apply a strict cut-off date for documentation.
Please therefore do not upload any accounting documents relating to FY 2026 until further notice.Once the transition is completed, all FY 2026 documents will be processed via our new accounting setup (Horus), with your Falco, Billit, or where possible, other invoicing software, replacing Winbooks Connect as the document exchange platform.
We thank our clients for their understanding as well as their highly appreciated and diligent cooperation during this transition. We look forward to continuing to provide the highest quality service.
